Levi Garraway, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Levi Garraway is Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Global Product Development at Genentech and Roche. Before joining Genentech, he was Senior Vice President, Oncology Research and Development and Lilly Research Laboratories Novel Target Research at Eli Lilly. Prior to that, Dr. Garraway was director of the Joint Center for Cancer Precision Medicine, which spanned Harvard teaching hospitals including the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. He was also co-leader of the Cancer Genetics Program at the Dana-Farber / Harvard Cancer Center. In 2010, Dr. Garraway co-founded Foundation Medicine, the world’s leading provider of tumor molecular information. Over the course of his career, Dr. Garraway has served on several major National Institutes of Health (NIH) committees as well as the Blue Ribbon Panel for the Beau Biden Cancer Moonshot Initiative. He is the author of nearly 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has received many awards, including the Paul Marks Prize for Cancer Research, the New Innovator Award from the NIH, and an Outstanding Investigator Award from the National Cancer Institute. Garraway is a graduate of Harvard, where he earned his A.B., M.D., and his Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology. He was born in Oakland, California and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
