Chief Executive Officer at San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E)
Caroline Winn is Chief Executive Officer for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), one of Sempra Energy’s regulated California utilities. Sempra Energy is a San Diego- based energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services.
Throughout her career in the energy industry spanning more than three decades, Caroline has championed both internal and external initiatives to increase the number of women in corporate and community leadership positions, as well as to inspire girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). In 2018, she launched the #BeThatGirl initiative to mobilize SDG&E STEM professionals to serve as mentors for young girls.
Caroline is a strong supporter of the ADVANCE program at the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, which aims to elevate women’s careers through training and mentoring. As chair of the Regional Chamber’s Board of Directors, she is also leading an initiative to reduce gender disparity on corporate, government and nonprofit boards.
An engineer by training, Caroline rose through the ranks thanks to the mentorship of both male and female leaders. Her personal experience fuels her passion to build a diverse and inclusive company culture.
Caroline sits on the board of directors of Veloz, Monarch School and Smart Electric Power Alliance; the executive council of Western Energy Institute; and the director’s council of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She is also a member of the management council of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.
